Qualifications for Pastoral Service

The qualifications for pastoral service are twofold.

Spiritually, a person must have had an experience of salvation, be wholly committed to the Lord Jesus Christ, know a call to full-time service, have some experience in Christian service and be in agreement with the C&MA's doctrine and vision for ministry.

Educationally, a person must have a minimum of a Dip. Th. (preferably a B.Th.) from the Australia College of Ministries (ACOM) or its equivalent. At the conclusion of theological training, an ordination study programme must be completed including an oral doctrinal examination.

Ordained ministers from other denominations seeking credentials will undertake a course of reading and will be examined by the Ordination Council.

Qualifications for International Worker Service

The qualifications for missionary service ministry are threefold.

Spiritually, a person must have had an experience of salvation, be wholly committed to the Lord Jesus Christ, know a call to full-time service, have some experience in Christian service and be in agreement with the C&MA's doctrine and vision for ministry.

Educationally, a person must have a minimum of a B.Th. from the Australian College of Ministries (ACOM) or its equivalent. At the conclusion of theological training, an ordination study programme must be completed including an oral doctrinal examination. A 2 year home service assignment forms the final preparation prior to departure to the appointed mission field.

General Qualifications include a willingness to endure hardship, counting the cost of missionary service, adaptability to new situations and cultures, good emotional health, be of appropriate age and have a family which qualifies.

Children Worker - Baulkham Hills Chinese Alliance Church (BHCAC)

Role Summary:

Develop, promote, lead and deliver programs and events for children and families at BHCAC and among the wider community.

Key Responsibilities:

- Participate and lead initiatives related to children and their families. These include:

- Sunday morning program

- School holiday programs

- Occasional outreach events (e.g. Christmas & Easter)

- Partner with parents

- Recruit, train and develop a volunteer leadership team.

Requirements and Expectations:

- A minimum of thee days/week

- Be missional having a heart for the lost.

- Work well in our team.

- The successful applicant is expected to have a minimum of a diploma in theology acceptable to C&MA or be working toward such qualification.

Cantonese Pastor - Baulkham Hills Chinese Alliance Church

Baulkham Hills Chinese Alliance Church (BHCAC)

BHCAC belongs to the Christian & Missionary Alliance denomination of Australia located in the Sydney Hills area. We have three congregations of around 330 individuals: Cantonese (approx. 230), English (approx. 40) and Mandarin (approx. 60).

We are prayerfully seeking a Cantonese Pastor to assist the Senior Pastor in leading the Cantonese congregation by equipping and empowering our members for God’s service and witness.

The role of the Cantonese Pastor calls for someone who demonstrates strong missional leadership and is able to assist leading the Cantonese congregation in fulfilling its mission to love God and love people, while encouraging others to grow with us as passionately committed followers of Jesus.

We seek a candidate with the following ministry skills:

• Teaching: demonstrated effectiveness in communicating the truth of the Bible in a variety of contexts.

• Discipleship: demonstrated commitment to and effectiveness in disciple-making.

• Missional Engagement: commitment to community engagement and outreach to those who do not yet know Jesus. This includes recognising opportunities and leading the church in engaging with them.

• Collaboration: working cooperatively with different people and serve together in ministry.

• Communication: being a good listener, engaging well with others, and communicating effectively with people from different backgrounds.

Essential Criteria

Part-time Ministry Worker - Rise Alliance Church

About Us

Our mission is “Radiating the Gospel in all of life”. Rise was planted in 2023 to reach people in an Asian context in Rochedale and surrounding suburbs. Our community is mostly young families and Millennials from East Asian contexts, with English speaking backgrounds.

Responsibilities

You will be accountable to the Senior Pastor. You will need to maintain denominational licensing (such as attending meetings, study, professional supervision)

Ministry areas are open for negotiation but examples are:

● Assist the Senior Pastor and Board of Elders to shepherd the congregation

● Serve kids and families ministry by teaching kids, recruit and train leaders, provide pastoral care for families

● Disciple women and men one to one

● Disciple non-believers into faith

● Facilitate a Discipleship Group (e.g. Bible Study, prayer triplets, Christian book club)

● Contribute to prayer ministry

● Contribute to Sunday Service (e.g. Preaching, music, welcoming).

Requirements

● Licensing with our denomination: Christian and Missionary Alliance of Australia. Rise will assist you in this process. (Includes police check, and blue card application)

● At least one year theological study at a recognised bible college

● Familiarity with East Asian cultures. Asian heritage ideal but not required.

English Pastor - Perth Alliance Church (South)

Our Church: Perth Alliance Church (South) (PACS) is a multi-congregational church comprising Cantonese-, Mandarin-, and English-speaking congregations which belongs to the Christian and Missionary Alliance of Australia (https://www.cma.org.au). PACS currently has around 300 adult members and over 100 children and youth with a Pastoral Team of 4 Pastors, serving their respective congregations and jointly in the shared-ministry of PACS.

Perth Alliance Church English Congregation (PACE)

PACE was established in 1998. PACE primarily comprises high school students, young adults, and families with young children. While members come from a variety of cultural backgrounds, the majority are ethnic Chinese. Currently, around 50 people gather each Sunday for worship, with nearly 50% being high school students.

The Mission of PACE is ‘Making, Equipping and Sending Disciples of Jesus’ and in addition to our regular Sunday Service, we also have:

- ‘Logos Group’ during the Sunday Service (for our high school students)

- ‘PACE Kids’ during the Sunday Service (for our younger children)

- English ‘Youth Group’ on Friday nights (for our high school students)

- ‘Connect Group/s’ on weeknights (for our adults)

After more than 20 years of faithful service, the current English Pastor of PACE, Rev Rolf Van Wollingen, plans to retire at the end of 2026. We are prayerfully seeking for a suitable candidate to lead PACE into its next phase of growth.

Summary of Position

This is a Full-Time Pastoral position with the responsibility of leading, developing and overseeing all ministries of the English Congregation to fulfill the Mission of PACE.

Qualifications

- Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in theological studies (or equivalent).

- Pastoral Experience: Minimum of 5 years pastoral experience (including internship, mission work, or other full-time or part-time ministries) with sensitivity to issues in a multi-cultural, multi-lingual and multi-generational congregation desirable.

- Acceptance of C&MA Statement of Faith, Doctrine and Tradition.

- Administrative Skills: Demonstrated ability in executing, planning, organising, delegating and fostering team ministry.

Key Responsibilities

- Preaching: Preach and teach the Word of God with faithfulness, passion, and biblical conviction.

- Pastoral Care: Provide pastoral care and spiritual guidance to individuals and families within the English Congregation.

- Mentoring & Training: Develop, train, mentor and support existing and emerging leaders, especially among youth and young adults.

- Leadership: Provide overall leadership and direction for all English Congregation ministries in collaboration with the English Ministry Committee.

- Youth & Young Adult Ministry: Cast vision and develop the youth ministry in response to the rapidly growth of the number of youths and young adults, including re-establishing a young adults (university students) ministry.

- Discipleship-making: Engage in intentional disciple-making through spiritual formation, Bible teaching, and sound doctrinal instruction.

- Evangelism: Equip and encourage members for evangelism, community engagement, and missions, locally and abroad, including leading short-term mission exposure trips

- Planning: Contribute to short and long-term planning for PACE and PACS.

- Pastoral Collaboration: Work closely with pastoral staff, administrative staff, elders, deacons and lay leaders of PACS to promote unity and shared ministry.

Assistant Pastor - Children's Ministry - Part-time

Job Description:

Are you a compassionate leader with a heart for children's ministry? Perth Alliance Church North is seeking a dedicated individual fluent in English and able to understand either Mandarin or Cantonese, to serve as our part-time Children's Ministry Pastor! You will be working in collaboration with the pastoral team and leaders of other congregations to lead the church in one unified direction from discerning God’s leadership. The successful applicant will also need to be able to obtain a C&MA Australia licence for ministry.

Position: Children Ministry Part-time (15 h/w) Pastor

As our Children's Ministry Pastor, you'll recognise and be convicted of the importance of Children’s ministry as the foundation for long-term kingdom expansion. You’ll also play a vital role in shaping the spiritual growth of our youngest members and their families. To be successful, you will need to fulfill the below criterion:

Selection Criterion:

Developing Discipleship: Create and implement a curriculum to systematically disciple children, helping them to grow in their faith. This position is also vital in providing worship guidance for Junior Church services across different ages.

Family Support: Provide guidance and resources to help families to follow Jesus faithfully, nurturing their spiritual growth together. You will need to recognise the difficulties and facilitate cross-generational communication strategies, and support for special needs children.

Team Development: Work together with other pastors to strengthen the Children's Ministry team through mentorship, training, and encouragement, fostering their growth as leaders.

Communication: Identify and communicate the needs of Children ministry in the regular pastoral team meeting.
